I think I want to be a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) but I’m a little worried?!?!?

So I was thinking of a CRNA basically because they make 6 figures, there arent a lot of years of schooling, they are in high demand, i want to work in the medical field but dont want to be a MD, and you can have a preference of who you want to work with (plastic surgery, dental, icu, deliveries, pediatrics, etc). well those are the things that the nurse anesthetist that came to my school told us on career day. he also said that you dont have to be really smart; he made C’s and D’s in high school. plus if being a CRNA didnt work i would always have my BSN to fall back on and could be a RN. but im a tad scared to be a CRNA. like im kinda scared of all the pressure and i dont want my brain to hurt from the difficulty. how difficult is the actual job?
can anyone that is or knows a nurse anesthetist please give me advice?

When someone is making a six figure income, there is always a reason. If it were easy, thousands of people would be lining up to do the job and then they wouldn’t be paid so much. To be successful as a CRNA, you either need to be really good at science or have extremely good study habits (usually a combination of both). The same goes for being an RN (only to a lesser degree). My husband doesn’t have good study habits but is incredibly bright, and he is near the top of his class in his RN program. He failed out of high school (he hates homework), but is doing well in his nursing program and plans to go on to be a CRNA. If you’re motivated and really want to achieve a goal, you’ll be amazed at the obstacles you’ll be able to overcome.

CRNA programs are quite competitive. Your brain will hurt. The job is intense. 90-95% of your job as a CRNA will be to watch the monitors closely and make sure your patient stays stable – it can get boring. However, the other 5-10% of the time you’ll have someone’s life in your hands and it can be rather stressful and demanding.
